Arta Mae Faulkner
1934-2025
Arta Mae Faulkner passed away at her home in Clinton, Utah on Friday, October 24, 2025 at the age of 90, exactly 2 weeks shy of her 91st birthday.
Arta Mae was born November 7, 1934 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Daniel Westley & Vallie Lavada Bagley. She was the youngest of 3 children. She spent her entire childhood living in the same home until she graduated from high school in 1952. Her childhood home was filled with music, laughter, and hard work. She loved singing and playing the piano.
She started working at the age of 13 at the local dairy. Because she was so great at math, she was doing all the bookkeeping and accounting in the office for the dairy at the age of 14.
By 17, she was working at 1st Federal Bank in Twin Falls. Shortly after high school, she was married to her first husband. They moved around for the next 9 years before returning to Twin Falls. They divorced and she moved to Bountiful in 1961 to be close to her sister Donna Rae and her 5 children. She was a loving and devoted aunt to all of her nieces and nephews.
She worked for First Security Bank in Salt Lake City as a mortgage and loan officer, which was rare for a woman to do in 1961. She took many classes and received certifications to help improve her career and gain valuable skills, including the ability to type 120 words per minute. Other jobs included a facilities manager, customer service representative and a personal assistant.
In 1966, she met her sweetheart, Big Jim (Arthur James Faulkner). He had just joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was introduced to the ward as its newest member. As she recalls, “He was the biggest, baldest man I’d ever seen!” She went up to introduce herself. As Big Jim, would say, “She leaped over the pews and jumped onto the stand to get to me.” It truly was a match made in heaven. They complimented each other so well in spite of being complete opposites. They were married on September 1, 1967 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, they had a daughter born in 1971, Anjeanette. They spent their lives together in Bountiful from 1967 until Jim passed in 2016. Soon after his passing, Arta Mae moved in with Anjeanette and her family in Clinton until her passing.
Arta Mae leaves behind her daughter, Anjeanette (Kyle) Williams, 7 Grandchildren, Harry (Veronica) Williams, Karley (Jack) Richins, Allie (Eddie) Thomas, Porter, Reilly, Luke & Stormy, 5 great grandchildren, Ellie, Teddy, Shelby, Cameron, Benny and a granddaughter on the way this month.
Arta Mae’s love and devotion to her Savior and the Gospel of Jesus Christ was observed by those around her. This was shown by countless meals, anonymous grocery drops, time spent listening and comforting others, following her promptings to quietly serve so many without a desire for recognition. She loved and cherished her family and friends dearly. Although she didn’t have much monetarily, she was always so willing to share anything with anyone in need. She put God first in her life and especially put others before herself. She was full of charity and love.
