Arlene Cole Likens

Our cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt passed away peacefully on June 12, 2024, at the age of 90.

Arlene was born August 11, 1933, in North Ogden, Utah where she grew up. She was a daughter of Charles Newman Barker and Elizabeth Howell Lee of North Ogden, Utah. Arlene had three sisters, four brothers, two half-sisters, and five half-brothers.

She attended Weber High School. She worked at Chick Café in Ogden, and Allied Signal Fram Filter Corps in the Freeport Center in Clearfield, UT, retiring in 1990. 

Arlene married Melvin Jay Cole in Elko, Nevada, on March 28, 1953. Together they had three children, Kathy (Dallan) Buckley of Syracuse, Melvin Brent (Sandy) Cole of Harrisville, and Mitchell (Collette) Cole of Pleasant View. They had a great love for the outdoors spending many hours together camping, waterskiing, and hunting. Melvin later passed away on January 6, 1989.

Arlene married Grant Frank Likens in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 17, 1991. They spent many hours together traveling. He later passed away on December 29, 2000.

Family was important to Arlene. She loved having barbeques and spending time at the property with her family and waterskiing on Pineview Dam with friends and family. She loved getting together with her family on every holiday. She also loved supporting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their many sporting events and dance reviews. Arlene loved to crochet and make baby blankets which she made for all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Arlene is survived by her 3 children, 10 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd.
