Their first daughter (Deborah Ruth Whiteaker) was born there. Alton then got orders for YN(B) school in Bainbridge, MD, and on completion, his next duty station was Navy Mine Warfare School (Ships Company) Yorktown, VA. Alton loved being outdoors, growing his garden. Alton loved doing yard work, which led to him starting his own yard service business, where he made a bunch of friends and was able to give others beautiful yards. Alton was also very fond of taking his boat out fishing in the summertime and going ice fishing in the winter. He loved helping his neighbors when they had problems and was always able to fix anything they had problems with. He was a devoted and loving father, grandfather, and friend and loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, very much and will be greatly missed.
