Allison Smith Bjerke
Allison Bjerke, 52, of North Salt Lake, Utah passed away May 9, 2026, following a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Allison was born in Ogden, Utah on July 3, 1973 to Jaye Brigham Smith and Bonnie Jean Starr. She completed her schooling in Ogden, graduating from Ogden High School in 1991. In high school she was Drama Sterling Scholar and loved participating in many plays and musicals.
A few years after graduation, Allison moved with her mom into a house in a neighborhood her mom had loved. It turned out Allison would meet the man she would marry just two doors down. She was sealed to Ryan David Bjerke on December 21, 1995 in the Salt Lake Temple.
In the fall of 1998, Allison and Ryan made an exciting move to the Boston area for Ryan’s schooling. With her experience processing mortgage loans, Allison was able to get a great job with a large Northeastern mortgage company. While in Massachusetts, Allison took night classes at Bentley College and received an Associate of Science in Business Administration and enjoyed serving as a temple worker in the newly constructed Boston temple.
In 2001 Ryan and Allison moved back to Utah and bought a house in Farmington where they lived for eight years. In Farmington they were blessed to finally have three sons: Dayne Reider, Hayden Aksel and Davin Tate. Allison’s focus after the boys were born was to stay at home with her children where she worked tirelessly to convey to them a love of learning, reading and music; to prepare them for life; to teach them the Gospel and to support them in all their activities. The family moved to North Salt Lake in the Fall of 2009 and have lived there since.
Allison loved to travel and have fun and exciting experiences with her family. They snow skied, rode dirt bikes and went boating to water ski, wake board, surf and watch the boys and their friends ride on the “death mattress”. They loved amusement parks, ziplines, bungee jumping, white water rafting, and scuba diving. Allison was such a dedicated and loving mother she even went sky diving with one of her sons.
In the last 10 years of her life Allison had a job that she loved, the librarian at Holbrook Elementary in Bountiful. She found joy participating in the Beehive Books program, listening to students tell her about books, seeing students light up when they found a book they loved and making sure every student had a place they felt welcomed and loved. One of Allison’s favorite quotes is “When in doubt, go to the library” from J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
Allison is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held so many callings she loved including many primary callings (especially music) and Relief Society teacher and counselor, and she considered singing with the ward choir a privilege.
Allison is survived by her husband, Ryan Bjerke of North Salt Lake; her children, Dayne Bjerke (Raley), Hayden Bjerke and Davin Bjerke all of North Salt Lake, and her sisters, Peggy McFarland, Carol McFarland and Sharon Campbell (Stewart) each of Ogden; and Sue Roesner (Russ) of North Manchester, Indiana.
Allison was preceded in death by her mother Bonnie Starr, her brothers Andrew McFarland and Todd McFarland and her sister Kathryn McDill.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Regency Ward house 165 West Monarch Drive, Bountiful, Utah 84010.
