“Chow”

May 15, 1928 ~ June 27, 2014

Our loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, Chow, as known to most, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 27, 2014 at the age of 86 at the George E. Wahlen Veterans home in Ogden after a long courageous bout with Alzheimer’s disease.

Chow was born on May 15, 1928 in Logan, UT to Adolph and Emma Felix. He graduated from Logan High in 1946. Immediately after high school he joined the Navy where he served on the U.S.S. Bayfield. Upon his return from service he married his sweetheart Janice Spencer in 1950 and they were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple.

He graduated from USU in 1955 with a degree in Industrial Arts.  They relocated to Ogden, UT where Chow began his teaching career for Ogden City Schools, first at Mound Fort JHS and then at Ben Lomond High where he taught General Shop.  He retired after 35 years of teaching.  He also retired from the Navy Reserves as a Chief.

Chow and Jan moved to Ashton, ID in 1994 to live out their retirement years in the cabin that Chow built.  Chow loved life to the fullest. He enjoyed woodworking, riding four wheelers, driving his snowcat, and helping with the annual potato harvest.  He enjoyed working with his hands and could build anything. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving are his wife, Jan; children, Chris (Brent) Saxton, Spence (Kathy) Felix, and Chet Felix; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Becky Mildon, grandson, Cody Felix; brother, Clyde; and his parents.

At Chow’s request, a closed casket gathering will be held for family and friends on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 3 p.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the George E. Wahlen Veterans Home-Memory care unit for their wonderful care, support and love that they gave Chow.
