Shirley Hales Davis
November 30, 1924 ~ May 22, 2018
On Tuesday, May 22, 2018, Shirley Jean Hales Davis “graduated with distinction.”
She was born November 30, 1924, in Riverside Utah to George Robert Hales and Violet Jean Boothe. She spent her early youth in Belle Fouche, South Dakota. Her family then returned to Utah. She was the oldest of her three siblings. Although the eldest, Shirley was the last of her siblings to go “home.”
Shirley was blessed to marry Alten B. Davis in the Logan LDS Temple on March 22, 1946. Shortly thereafter, they moved to California for Alten to continue his education. She helped him complete his Phd. at the University of California at Berkley and then they determined to move back to Utah. They lived in Ogden, Layton and St. George. Shirley returned to northern Utah in September 2016.
Alten died on April 30, 2001, leaving a gaping hole in mom’s heart. They truly loved each other. She has three children Stephanie Davis, Palmyra Virginia; Christopher George Davis (Kathy) Roy, Utah; and Bradley Hales Davis (who preceded her in death). Shirley blessed the lives of her five grandchildren, their spouses and her twelve great grandchildren who all love and adore her.
She was a faithful active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints and had an abiding testimony of the Savior’s gospel. She served in many capacities throughout her life and continued her service until her passing. She was always found trying to include people to help lift them up.
The family is grateful for the care she received at Legacy House of Ogden. The family is also grateful to the compassionate and skilled professionals at McKay Dee Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the Roy 17th Ward, 5725 South 3750 West. Friends may visit at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 that morning.
Arrangements entrusted to Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary.
