Marjorie Misayo Oda Kanno
December 4, 1922 ~ February 8, 2018
Marjorie Misayo Oda Kanno, 95, passed away on February 8, 2018 at Apple Village of Layton. She was born on December 4, 1922 in Cornish, UT, the daughter of Naokichi and Toshi Sasaki Oda. She graduated from Davis High School. Marjorie resided in Syracuse for 13 years and Sunset for 48 years.
She married Tom Tadashi Kanno on November 24, 1945 in Syracuse. Tom passed away on March 28, 1999.
Marjorie was a member of the Ogden Japanese Christian Church and thoroughly enjoyed working at the Utah Tailoring Mills in Ogden.
She enjoyed cooking, sewing and gardening for the family, and fishing, camping, and playing slot machines with the family.
Marjorie is survived by her son, Larry T. (Peggy) Kanno, Preston, ID; daughters, Susan (Dale) Carper, Layton; Joanne Stoker, Roy; and Mona (Benjamin) Burke, La Mesa, CA; 9 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Sam (Kemie) Oda, Quincy, WA; and Jimmy (Mary) Oda, Layton; and sisters, Chiyo Watanabe, Temple City, CA; and Mary Kiyoko Mitamura, Clearfield. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom; daughter, Christine; parents, Naokichi and Toshi Oda; brothers, Koke (Ruth) Oda and John (Louise) Oda; sister, Carol (Kaz) Kamaya.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
