Kevin Dale Nelson
March 14, 1955 ~ December 9, 2016
Kevin Dale Nelson was taken from us unexpectedly on December 9, 2016. He was born on March 14, 1955, to Volney DeForges Nelson and Mary Joan Gabey. He was born and raised in South Ogden City and lived in Ogden for 61 years. He attended Bonneville High School.
Kevin was a hard worker and at an early age had a paper route to help his family and bought an occasional hot chocolate for himself. He then went to help his brother, Ralph, run and mange Husky Gas Station on 26th Wall Ave. His passion for cars and car audio brought him to his father’s shop on 28th and Washington Blvd., where he established his own business AES (Automotive Electronics Specialist), which he owned and operated for over 20 years.
Kevin was loved and liked by everyone. He had a kindred spirit. All of his friends called him by his nickname “Mushy”, even his friends children called him Uncle Kevin.
He loved playing the guitar, collecting old music albums, and the Denver Broncos.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Kevin is survived by his daughter, Joany (Troy) Wood; six siblings, Mariechen (Melvin - deceased) Goff, Clinton; Carmen (Dellas – deceased) Atwood, Salt Lake City; Ralph (Janice) Nelson, Ogden; Florence (David) Jones, Newton; Frances (Hal) Christensen, Springville; LaVern Miller, Anchorage, AK; ex-wife, Diane Salerno; stepdaughter, Stephanie Salerno; step-grandchild and one step-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews who all loved him very much. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 15, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
