Welcome to the memorial page for

Everette George Faunce

June 12, 1926 ~ April 2, 2009 (age 82)
OGDEN – Ev was born June 12, 1926 to George and Martha Faunce of Fergus Falls, MN. Dad passed away peacefully April 2, 2009 surrounded by his loving family after complications with Parkinsons. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Dad grew up in Fergus Falls where he graduated high school in 1944. He then was called to serve in the United States Navy. After returning from duty he enrolled at the University of MN, where he continued to fulfill a passion for playing football (Go Gophers). The “Fergus Falls Flash” as dad was known by many fans, received the Gophers most valuable player award in 1948. After graduating with a degree in engineering he went on to play professional football for the Baltimore Colts. Dad’s love of football lead to a career in coaching, first coaching at Minot State College, MN. A year later landing the assistant coaching position with Utah State University (Go Aggies!), where he soon became head coach from 1955-1960. Dad received the ultimate honor by being named the top Fergus Falls athlete of the 20th century by the area Chamber of Commerce in 1998. His success did not stop with football, by the 1970’s he had put his education to work, partnering with Bob Bateman and the late Bud Graham; they created a very successful aerospace company, Flameco Engineering. Upon retirement dad’s favorite pastime was shared with friends on the golf course or maybe even a competitive game of tennis. He was a member of the Ogden Golf & Country Club where he celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary to Catherine Campion Faunce whom he married on July 26, 1952. They had three children and a long life of adventures until her passing in 2002. Dad and mom spent their summers at the family cabin on Ottertail Lake in MN and wintered at their condo in Maui, HI. Dad always made sure he was where the sun was shining and enjoyed sharing that time with family and friends. Memories of the poolside summers and the lemon chicken smoke outs at papas will always be the grandkids’ favorite. Ev is survived by his three children; Jorgann (Michael) Margetts, Michele (Gary) Kezior, Steven (Darlene) Faunce. Eight grandchildren, Michael Welker, Kellie Kezior, Kyle Kezior, Stacie Gerardi, Shelly Sanchez, Ashlee Faunce, Chelsea Faunce, and Christian Gurrola, and daughter-in-law, Kris Faunce. He was also very blessed with eleven great-granchildren with more on the way. Ev is also survived by his current wife Dorothy Allen Faunce. Dad is preceded by his parents and sister, Marcella Louise Baglien. The family wishes to thank Dr. Michael Woolman, Comfort Keepers, Mountain Ridge Assisted Living, Specialty Nursing (Ogden, Utah) and Hospice of Arizona, for the kindness and compassionate care they gave our father, A special thanks to Cheryl Schofield and granddaughter Stacie Gerardi for your extraordinary love and support to ensure dad had the best possible care.
