Bruce Earl Belnap passed away on February 20, 2014 in Orlando, FL. He was 88. He was born on July 23, 1925 in Ogden, Utah, and raised in Sparks, Nevada.

He is survived by Phyllis, his wife of 59 years, their 6 children, 27 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.

After serving 3 years in the Navy in World War II, Bruce earned his degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Nevada. Bruce worked for General Electric for 36 years, first in Erie, Pennsylvania, then Schenectady, New York, and finally Pinellas Park, Florida.

Always involved in the Boy Scouts of America and an Eagle Scout as a youth, he served as the President of the West Central Florida Council and was instrumental in the development of the Sand Hill Boy Scout Camp in Hernando County.

Bruce was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he held leadership responsibilities including District President, Stake President and Regional Representative of the Quorum of the Twelve. He served a mission as a young man in the East Central States Mission from 1948-1951, and with his wife Phyllis, as part of a couple missionary companionship, he was called as the director of the Visitors' Center at the Washington, D.C. LDS Temple from 1989-1991. A treasured experience was service at Brigham Young University's Jerusalem Center for Near Eastern Studies where he and Phyllis coordinated housing for the students studying at the Center. Later he served as the President of the Orlando, Florida LDS Temple from 2001-2004 where he continued to serve as a Sealer.
