Barbara J. Weir
March 21, 1933 ~ March 11, 2018
Barbara Joyce Weir was born on March 21, 1933 in Ogden, Utah to James T. Weir, Jr. and Vera Lucile Thurgood Weir. She has lived in Ogden most of her life. She passed away on March 11, 2018.
At the age of 14 she received injuries in an unfortunate bus accident and has suffered from that injury the rest of her life. Being injured, she spent many years in the hospital, eventually losing her right leg below the knee at the age of 21. She remained single due to her injuries.
She worked for the Federal Government at Defense Depot Ogden in the personnel department and retired with 38 years of service.
Barbara was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. The calling she loved and enjoyed the most was serving as a teacher.
She loved dogs, horses, and camping. In spite of her injuries, she owned several horses and belonged to several riding clubs. Being a member of those clubs she and her horse would participate in activities the club sponsored which were campouts and riding in parades among others.
She has been living for the past while at South Ogden Post Acute Center. The family would like to thank the staff for her care.
Barbara is survived by her two brothers, J. Kent and Karl (Ramona). She has many nieces and nephews who she considered her own. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Lucile; and her sister-in-law, Kathryn Bench Weir.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
