At Lindquist's Mortuaries/Cemeteries, our service
to you and your family extends far beyond the funeral. We provide
a very comprehensive, no-cost AfterCare program in order to help
with some of the most pressing and important tasks following the
death of a loved one.
For example, we are considered experts in the
area of Federal Employees Civil Service Benefits and are called upon
many times to help in the training of our local civil service employees.
We are proud to provide the benefit of this expertise to our community
at no cost or obligation.
Within a few days after the service, one
of our experienced Family Service Counselors will be available to
answer questions on the following topics:
• Social Security: We
will notify Social Security and assist you in completing the necessary
requirements for survivor/dependent benefits.
• Insurance: We
can assist you with the claim process for life insurance benefits
as well as help you in updating any other life insurance policies
pertaining to surviving spouse or loved ones. We will also provide
helpful information on property and auto insurance, mortgage insurance,
and make sure that your health insurance coverage is continued through
Medicare, MediGap, COBRA, CHIP, Civil Service or other policies.
• Title
and Deed Transfers: We will help you make a list of the items
that need to be transferred and provide you with the appropriate
county offices to contact.
• Financial
and Retirement Accounts: We
will assist you with updating your bank and credit union account
information, 401(k)s, pension plans, IRAs, Railroad Retirement, FEGLI
and Civil Service benefits.
• Credit Cards: We
will provide information about how to handle outstanding balances
including the steps to cancel credit cards.
• Updating
Wills, Living Wills, Living Trusts, and Powers of Attorney: We
can help you change beneficiaries and provide probate information.
• Final Tax
Return: We'll discuss the necessary steps for filing
a final tax return for the deceased.
You will also be given a free,
12-month subscription to My Careletter, our
monthly care letter. Each issue contains articles written by grief
and recovery professionals. These timely and thoughtful care letters
are sent to you free of charge in the hopes that they will help ease
the pain of your loss. A selection of articles from My
Careletter is
available elsewhere on this site under Grief
Support.

recently experienced the death of a loved one and have not received
