ROSS MELVIN EAVES
May 28th 1923 - March 15th 2017
According to Ross:
Born in Desloge, Missouri on May 28th, 1923 at 2 a.m.. "I came into the home of my parents James Melvin and Elizabeth Victoria Eaves and met my older sister Helen Elizabeth Eaves. I was crying; Helen was mad; mom was hurting; and the doctor was making out the bill. I didn't know much at first. All I could do was cry. After the preliminaries I tasted some food. Milk, I found out later... and life went on..."
Ross was an excellent story teller and had a wry sense of humor.
Ross's life went on. His family, now totaling 6 siblings, moved from Desloge to Taft, California in 1935. He attended Roosevelt Elementary, Lincoln Junior High, and graduated from Taft High School. During his youth he enjoyed playing baseball, working in a bakery, working at a gas station, and ranching during the summers. Ross discovered a saving faith in Jesus Christ during a revival service at the age of 14.
Ross enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the inception of WWII. He was trained as an aviation mechanic and was stationed on Tinian Island for most of the war. After the war Ross returned to California and found employment as an aircraft mechanic with Pan American Airlines. He met and married Bobbie Lacy in 1949. Ross and Bobbie had twin children in 1952. The two were married for 43 years and lived in Pacifica, California until Bobbie's passing in 1991. Ross married Jamie Wylie in 1993.
Ross's passion for serving the Lord and the church led to his ordination as Deacon at Pacifica Baptist Church in 1959. He served as Deacon until he moved to Farmington, Utah in 2006. Ross never stopped serving his neighbors. He was fond of walking the neighborhood and taking newspapers from the driveway and putting them on porches while praying for the families he passed. Ross wanted everyone to know that being a child of God was the greatest honor of his life
Ross is survived by his wife, Jamie Eaves, his son Michael Eaves (Debbie), his daughter Donna Perimon (Larry), and his six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at The Good Shepherd Fellowship Church on Sunday, March 19th located at 696 N. 400 E. Bountiful, Utah.
