John “Jack” Willette

July 24, 1934 ~ March 19, 2017

John “Jack” Willette of Layton, Utah, has “Gone Fishing” as of March 19, 2017.

John was born on July 24, 1934 in Morris, MN, to George Adelbert and Iona May McCarthy Willette.

John was preceded in death by the love of his life, Marylin “Irene” Willette.

John is survived by his five children, Doug Willette, Washington Terrace; Vickie Phoenix, Roy; Michelle Adams, Ogden; Tonya Pagano, Layton; and Tammy Miller, Ogden.  John is also survived by his nine grandchildren, his two great-grandchildren, and his best bud, Joey Willette of Layton.

John moved to Utah in 1952 where he met and married the love of his life Irene in 1956, and started his family.

John’s passion as an artisan in woodworking and cabinetry led him and his family to California.  There he built his first woodshop behind their family home with the help of his wife and children.  Later in life, John and his family returned to Utah where he spent his final years enjoying his passion of fishing and regaling his grandchildren with life stories.

In 1993 John lost his wife to cancer and immediately took up residency with his grandson Joey.  Together they celebrated John’s final 24 years as the inseparable Dynamic Duo.  Joey brought a light and joy to John’s life that gave them both purpose.
