Helen Ruthelle Youngblood Martin
March 18, 1915 ~ November 3, 2017
Mother Ruth was born in Lillie, Louisiana on March 18, 1915 in "Master's Log Cabin". She was the daughter of Deacon John and Deaconess Susie Thornton Youngblood; the second of 10 children, Bell, Carl, Jay Vance, Ray, Donald, Margaret, Norwood, Hollis, and Silas.
She gave her life to Jesus Christ at an early age and took it seriously.
Mother Ruth was studious and attended Fellowship's Rosenwald School, and St. John in Homer, Louisiana. She completed high school at Washington High in El Dorado Arkansas. She earned a lifetime professional teacher's license at Grambling College in Louisiana and taught for 3 years. She also enrolled at Weber State College in Utah.
She caught the eye of a young Army Air Corpsman from Mississippi, Corporal Willie Martin, Jr. They were married for 51 years and raised 4 children: Pastor Willie F. Martin III (Barbara Louise) of Ogden, UT; Deacon Mary L. Green (Ezell-deceased) of Des Moines, WA; John L. Martin (Gladys) of North Richland Hills, TX; and Deacon Jessie S. Montgomery (Randle) of Seattle, WA.
She is survived by a sister, Hollis Youngblood McPhail of Reminderville, OH and a brother, Silas (Linda) Youngblood of Los Angeles and a sister-in-law Jenelle Youngblood of Homer, LA; many grand, great grand, and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Her greatest contributions to society were teaching by example to her family. She and her husband taught their children to love God, each other, care for the poor, and witness about Jesus Christ.
The family would like to thank South Ogden Post Acute Staff for their unwavering support and dedication during her stay there.
